Waze and spotify - music stops or voice gets cut off

Featured Replies

When using Android auto and playing some music through Spotify, or any other app, if Waze says something, some kind of confiict happens. The expected behaviour is that the music volume gets lowered so you can better hear the Waze warning. But instead, the music gets stopped completely, or the Waze voice gets cut off. Sometimes both. I have been using different phones (all samsung androids), but could never find the solution to this problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Did someone find the solution?

For context, I own Octavia Mk4 (2023) with 10" display.

Just out of curiosity…

… if you use Waze and Spotify without Android Auto do you experience the same behaviour?

Good point, it could be completely unrelated to the car itself. But using these two apps in Android Auto should be a pretty common thing, so I was hoping someone else had already experienced the same and could suggest a potential solution.

TBH, I never tried it without Android Auto. I'll do it today and report back...

I have been driving my car since yesterday without Android Auto, using Waze and Spotify on my phone only, and haven't experienced the above-mentioned problem.

So, either it has something to do with the car, or it's some strange bug in Android Auto, maybe related specifically to the phones I used (Samsung Galaxy s23 and S24 Ultra). It's really annoying.

I use both Waze and Spotify every day in my '21 vRS with no such issues (Samsung S22).

I guess the first question is are all the apps, and operating system on phone up to date?

The other possible fix is to unpair the phone and then re-pair, sometimes it's just something simple.

One other thing is, I assume this is connected via Bluetooth? Maybe try turning off BT and connecting via a USB cable and see if you have the same problem, the more things you can rule out the better IME.

FWIW my phone is on Android version 16, Waze and Spotify are latest versions and BT version 5.2

So that’s eliminated Waze/Spotify settings so must be an AA or car thing.

Suggestions from @CS363 will hopefully help (I’m out of ideas now and can’t test anything ‘cos I use an iPhone).

Good luck…

i have lots of problems using waze or Gmaps and spotify with android auto (Galaxy s25 ultra) in my Octavia 2025 FL SEL..
i was told by the dealer, its known issue, and to fix it, they need either update the version of the infotainment, or replace the GPS controller in the car, or replace the SOS module.

because in my car, there is also this virtual cluster:

and there no option to answer phone calls.. and they have recall on that..
