Tyre revelation....

Pirelli Pzero Nero... therye rather good arnt they

cue mr french with the inevitable "i told you so"

Well what can i say.. i got a pair to replace my front KU31s which had started to suffer.. they are not bad tyres at all plenty of grip, but i think their sidewall is a bit too weak for a heavy front end, as theres a definate scrub mark all the way round the outside, and the sidewall was starting to bulge on one of them.

Instantly the Pzeros have a much stiffer sidewall.. which makes the car feel much more confident.. ive not had a chance to chuck it down some twisties yet.. but even motorway driving gets a :thumbup: from me.

Only downside is the stiffer sidewall is making my "DSG" (patent pending) - dynamic suspension geometry --- aka its fooked worse, as the tyres are deflecting the suspension more now theres less give in them.

Think Nero's are going on the fabia next time they need replacing. So far 11K on the R's and I've not swapped them round yet :D

I told you so

HTH

:D

13K on my Contis and they are as good as new. Had Contis on all my cars and they seem to be excellent value and good for 20K if driven carefully.

Conti's offer a reasonable all round performance but longevity in a tyre will almost always be at the expense of grip.

Colin has a rather 'unique' car which may well benefit from a little more grip that some others. :P :D

I think the Nero's will be on my list when the time comes - they look good as well. The Khumo's will also be a consideration.

Anyone else with Conti's suffering with tyre squeal when hitting the load pedal during the warm weather? I'm finding it a little embarrasing at the moment, if I decide I want to cover someone in soot from a rolling start they squeal and make me sound like a ch@v. :o

YEP. ALL the time mine are squealing.

Yep they're squeelers ;) - you don't even have to go all that aggressively either tbh.

The GY Eagles are not as squeely but I'll try some different tyres again next time. I've got used to them but I still think there must be better tyres out there for cornering, took rather too long to run them in. They are ace in the wet compared to the SC IIs though :)

Anything is better than SCIIs in the wet!! Good job its summer!!

I actually find them better than T1Rs for cornering tho.

On my second set of Neros on the front - they do wear pretty quick and only got about 15k out of them - had a blow out at 70mph with them though just before replacing them :(

Grip is excellent and would nearly go as far as saying they transformed the car.

They are also fairly cheap. :)
