Wipers very noisy

Featured Replies

Just come back to Skoda after some years and bought a 6month old, 700 miles Fabia SE. So far I'm very impressed except for very noisy wipers. I've ordered new Bosch twin wiper blades but I'm not convinced that it's just the blades; obviously I'll find out when I get the blades but I'd welcome comments.

Incidentally I'm glad to see that Briskoda is still thriving with lots of info.

Thanks for those links. I was surprsed that an almost new car with low mileage, should have such noisy wipers. However, the wipers are also streaking the windscreen badly. I suspect that the dealer deposited some cleaning material on the screen that should have been kept on the bodywork.

As the BRISKODA forum has a 'worldwide' audience, it's perhaps worth mentioning that right-hand-drive (RHD) and left-hand-drive (LHD) vehicles need different Bosch AEROTWIN windscreen wiper blades. The 2-pack set for RHD Fabia Mk4 cars is referenced A864S, but for LHD Fabia Mk4 cars it is A863S.

If a GOOGLE-search is carried out using "xxxxxx poor wiper blades" as the search-term and a vehicle-make is substituted for xxxxxx, it's likely that, whatever vehicle-make is chosen, there will be complaints about the performance of the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) wiper blades.

This is another upgrade we shouldn't need to make but is a no-brainer. I've looked up my purchase details and the front wipers info you need (Fabia 4 RHD) is

Bosch A864S / 3 397 007 864.

The wipers the car was equipped with were a constant annoyance despite low mileage and being clean. Price for the replacements was around £21 on Amazon.

As to why the originals were so irritating may be down to the angle of the wiper arm. I did find suggestions (not on this forum) about twisting them slightly. What could possibly go wrong? It makes sense to just go Bosch.

Now replaced with Bosch - remarkable transformation; much quieter than the Skoda originals.
