Windscreen washer - is there a fuse ?.

Featured Replies

Hi I have a mk 3 facelift

Last night with a mucky windscreen I pulled on the stalk & headlight washer operated for 1 second and stopped , no windscreen wash. Today I went to refill the wash bottle, its full but no wash at all so presuming its a fuse I took off glovebox door before looking in handbook. No mention of windscreen wash any where in dashboard or under bonnet fuse box.

With the engine off I cant hear pump running with stalk pulled , so is there a fuse or is the motor kaput ??. If there is a fuse can anyone tell which 1 .Thank you.

Hi Lee01

Thanks for that, fuse 42 under dash. Somehow I missed that in my book, however rear doors lock/unlock so its not the fuse.

Could very well be the pump or the connector or switch. Best option would be to get someone else to operate switch and check your getting power to the pump. Think its fitted to the screenwash tank at bottom. I replaced mine as it had started to leak and tank used to empty itself over night. From memory I think its behind the passenger side plastic wheel arch protector

More than likely the pump, have you got VCDS or something like OBD Eleven that can read VAG codes? My pump failed recently and found there was a code logged B126113 windshield washer open circuit
