Hi all. In the 5 yrs I've had my Kodiaq I've had some costly issues. Firstly had to replace the mechetronic unit on dsg gearbox & now under going new high pressure egr & intercooler. It's a 2018 190 4x4 edition. 84k miles & the garage doing the repairs are advising doing the timing belt & water pump shortly. The car is due a service soon but if l go for the belt & pump it will be another big cost. Gearbox will need serviced next yr along with that service. All this making me think I'd be better catching a bus!! Anyone had similar issues or just me. Car always gets decent runs.

@Sailfast When the MCU was replaced i take it a a new filter and oil used. How many miles ago was that, and what DSG is it, a DQ381 or a DQ500?

Hi. Yes it got new oil & filter. Think it was around 60k miles but not sure what number the dsg was. I never new they needed servicing at 40k miles & the garage that does our servicing never said anything either. Don't think this was what caused the MCU issue though. I could likely find out the dsg number if l contacted the dealership that replaced it. Hawco in Peterhead. They were very helpful.

@Sailfast welcome to the forum. Sorry you are having such issues.

I have a 2019 2.0 190 TSi with the 4x4 DQ381 DSG gearbox mechatronic that’s just gone faulty at 115k miles and I’ve got a slot in Jan to get it replaced under the all in extra warranty (best money I’ve spent recently!) it seems a common fault on these gearboxes and there’s lots online about it.

Apart from that I had some failed front suspension bushes that had perished also covered under the all in warranty, so overall that’s not too bad, though could be costly for a common issue.

The service interval for the DQ381 is 80k miles, I had my one done slightly early at 70k but that has no bearing on the fault with the box from what I read.

Hope you get it sorted, I can see by your location that it’s not a quick thing to turn round.

@Sailfast How do you know the Servicing was due at 40,000 miles if you do not know what DSG you have, who told you it was?......... As far as Hawco Peterhead or even Inverness that says it all. Best visit or speak to Victoria Garage Maud's technician.. So all of 15 miles to travel (30 return) , & Proper mechanics with all the gear and more than ideas and they charge realistic prices. People travel long distances so as not needing to go to John Clark Dealerships. or Arnold Clarks or HAWCO.

There is a filter to change with a DQ381, and if a Service Desk person or a tech said only needs doing at each 2nd service which if they were doing by the VW Schedule would be at 160,000 miles i would not have them touching the vehicle. I hope the Haldex servicing is being done correctly at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner and not just an oil change.
