Featured Replies

According to the AA Fuel Price Report - July 2006 we now have new record average fuel prices across the country.

Unleaded prices have risen by 1.6p per litre (ppl) to 97.5p. Diesel prices have also risen, by 1.0ppl, to 99.1p. The price difference between Unleaded and Diesel has fallen to 1.6ppl.
Record UK Fuel Prices

Interesting to see the price difference between petrol and diesel come down so much.

About time the price difference is coming down again, diesel is WAY overpriced in the UK (imho of course ;))

That said I must admit seeing 98.9 for unleaded and 99.9 for derv still annoys me though :(

A couple of weeks ago, diesel dropped here by 5p  Shame that my car is so economical that by the time I needed to fill up again it had gone back up to 99.9p  The good news is that unleaded is currently at the same price so I don't feel so bad now :D

Chris

Tescos have bumped normal unleaded upto 99.9p per litre around here, shocking.

filled up on friday at my local tesco

diesel 99.9

95ron 99.9

99ron 103.9

:(

about £64 to fill up, used half of that going to see friends today too  but it was a 180 mile or so trip :)

Its 101.9p per litre for Esso 97 octane in Bristol :(

Just paid 101.9 for tesco 99 ron, only got 23 mpg round town this week Swmbo as got a lead foot :thumbdwn:

I just paid 106.9  for Shell Optimax (Super Unleaded 98RON). I rarely use that petrol station as I was near the end of my journey and it's 5p more than my usual Shell garage.

Prices are a good 40p per litre more than in Spain -1.12epl, Germany-1.06epl, Holland -1.05 epl, Italy-1.12epl (Just over Slovenian border), Slovenia 1.01epl in May 2006

Not so! I was in Italy early this week and petrol was around ~1.40-1.45 euro around Pisa.

used half of that going to see friends today too  but it was a 180 mile or so trip :)

http://www.aaroadwatch.ie/eupetrolprices/ has all the figures though not quite up to date.

Some countries do have cheaper fuel than us including spain , yes , but then they will pay more tax in other areas so that's not a fair comparison.

Look at the income tax for example , and the spaniels are paying 24 , 28 or 37% compared to our 22%

Great , they get cheap petrol but have less money to buy it with

i have been paying 105.9p a litre for optimax in west yorkshire... if fuel stays at those sort of prices ill be ditching the optimax for uber market fuel!

I filled both cars on Friday and was nearly £100 lighter as a result

not complaining as i think the car did alright fuel economy wise ;)

considering i wasn't hanging about coming home :)

My local Tesco had sold out of diesel today! Ended up paying 99.9p at Texaco, funny thing was the petrol there was also 99.9p! Diesel always seems cheap when it's the same as petrol... as I can go so much further on it!

but the car costs more to buy, more to service and needs servicing more often doesn't it?

More than made by the increased efficiency, by a long way!

and you have to drive around in a diesel car...

No, not necessarily.

Increase in purchase price can be balanced against increase in resale value.

Service...why would it cost more? You don't even have to change spark plugs...

There are plenty of diesel engines out there which will do longlife (2 year/18k miles) servicing.

That said, even with diesel ownership the rising fuel costs can bring a pinch...it now costs me

Just passed a small independant petrol station selling 95Ron unleaded at 101.9p and diesel at 99.9p!!!

At my Tesco normal unleaded is 99p Litre, but if you spend
