I could be wrong, but I don't believe anything has changed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIHw3L7hNh0

How it Works (General Steps):

  1. Set Headlight Switch to AUTO: Turn the main light control dial to the 'A' (Auto) position.

  2. Activate High Beam Assist: Push the turn signal stalk forward (away from you).

  3. Check for Indicator: A blue high beam icon appears when the system is active and high beams are on; a white icon appears when dimmed.

  4. Infotainment Settings: Access Vehicle Settings > Light in the infotainment screen to enable "Light Assist" and adjust sensitivity (Early, Medium, Late).

Key Features:

  • Automatic Switching: Camera detects other vehicles or well-lit areas and dims headlights accordingly.

  • Matrix LED Integration: Modern systems use Matrix technology to individually control LED segments for precise light masking, enhancing safety and visibility without dazzling others.

  • Sensitivity Adjustment: Fine-tune how soon the system reacts via the infotainment system or by holding the turn signal stalk.

I don't get the A symbol on mine and I don't have a switch for lights it's a push button.

I don't have those options in my infotainment unit so what is wrong?

on the mk.4.5 (the facelift since the end of 2024) this option is available only for higher trim levels.

That explains it then! Are the higher trim levels the same operation as the Mk4, or have they changed the switchgear?

(I did mention I could be wrong.... 😅)

Yes, it should be listed in the Digital Certificate and/or the car details in the app

If you have it you push the light stalk away from you one time and a white light icon with an A will appear in the dash if you have it and go blue when it engages the high beam.
