Misting up

Featured Replies

Is it normal that after you have ran the aircon the car mists up all day after you have switched it off?

Drove 25 miles on the motorway last night and the windscreen was misting up all the time. Had the windows open to test if it would eventually clear. i understand that there could be condensation from the aircon , but 25 miles of driving should sort that out. Eventually put aircon on, took 30 seconds to clear.

I can't believe I have to run my aircon all of the time.

I have a VRS that has only done 2k so pollen filter and blocked drains shouldn't be a problem, I would have thought.

Help!!!!

do you get a puddle of water under the car when aircon is on ? if you dont the drain pipe from inside the car could be blocked or kinked ,this would cause the condensate to leak into the car and make the carpets wet then you get condensation . also running with the recirc on could allow more moisture to be in the vehicle

Hi Steve

I don't want to worry you but I think you need to read my thread entitled "sloshing footwells"...the car misting up was one of the symptoms of the problem i had as described in the previous post. Feel your carpets...mine were sodden but it's not immediately obvious..you needed to apply some pressure to make the water rise out of them.

Good luck, please post when you know what your problem is.

Thanks, just off to check footwells!

Running full air con on Lo, in this heatwave, I've noticed an odd thing. Two smallish patches of mist, about 2" diameter each, a couple of inches each side of the windscreen centreline and a couple of inches from the bottom edge.

They are on the outside [disappear for a few minutes with one wipe]. Anyone else seen this?

Yes, get these on both the Oct'y and Fabia. perhaps the windscreen is getting to cold and condesation forming on the outside:confused:

Noticed this the other day. I think you're right. Lots of heat and humidity at the mo that we're not used to.

I just wondered what the two discs of mist related to? Some kind of outlet or intake? Very limited size of mist patch.

thats normal on all cars which have air-con, as another poster wrote it's condensation.

Hi Steve....and getting back on thread

Did you get to the root of your problem?

No water in footwells - seems not to be misting up as much now- I have no idea why. And before anyone suggests it - I didn't have the recirculation on!!
