2016 Mk3 L&K Right Front Wing

Featured Replies

Some "kind" driver of a Ford Transit forgot the hinge on their rear door stuck out so when I had pulled into a passing place on a single track Devon road they put a long deep dent into my right front wing.

Is the right front wing on a pre-facelift Mk3 all bolt on (I can see several bolts) or is there some welded sections?

If it's all bolted is there any reason why I shouldn't just get a replacement wing and bolt it on myself - and then get it painted?

Can you get some photos please?

Pretty sure it is just bolts Dave. I'm sure I've watched Dean (Saving Salvage on YT) taking one off the Mk3 he was recently working on. There's at least one in the door jamb adjacent to the front door hinges.

Sorry to hear about the damage 😳 Is it worth having it repaired? My local coach builder charges about £400 a panel to remove any size of dent. A lot of people say that's expensive, but I'm very particular, so expect to pay a premium to get the results I want.

Edit: Not the video I was thinking of, but this looks helpful:

As you can see it's a sharp crease which probably won't push out (plus an earlier shopping trolley scrape!).

pretty sure they are bolt on as well but think they are also stuck down with a type of adhesive. Read it can be loosend with heat gun. Might be worth sending photo to any body shops/panel beaters in your area to see if they can give you a rough price and if they reckon its repairable. Used to be a couple of decent ones near me that would do a cash in hand repair but alas they are all gone and only ones left tend to stick to insurance jobs so prices are very high. If your removing wing you may be able to get a second hand one in same colour. Would have to be fairly local as most I have seen wont post due to risk of damage in transit

I would have thought someone with a body hammer and the right shaped dolly behind the panel ought to be able to tap that out with the wheel arch liner removed. Tapping that crease out will probably pull the top edge down to match the bonnet "shut line". Wee bit of stopper to get the profile spot-on and Robert's your mother's brother.... 👍
