CD Player Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all

So the Symphony 6CD changer that came with my Octavia seems to be on it's way out. Keeps saying SURFACE on every disk now and try as I might blowing air into it I just cannot seem to clean off the lense. Lense cleaner disks aren't working either. So I may just have to buy a new stereo.

So the question is, how easy is it for someone to take out the old symphony HU and replace it with a different unit? I was looking at ones that take SD and USB drives to play MP3s plus a front CD unit.

Check out the connector under the 6 disc changer and give it a clean and make sure it's all properly connected :)

As for changing a head unit over, it isn't difficult, but you should note that VAG cars tend to have the switched live and permanant live swapped over for some reason.

try taking the symphony apart then spit on a cotton wool bud wipe the lense

see if it works then

Or blast some IPA over the lense and wipe gently with a cotton bud.
