Domain Problem

Featured Replies

I have this weird issue at work with two of the XP Boxes, and it only happens on the XP machines. Around once a week they won't let you logon, and it's simply resolved by logging in as local admin, removing and then re-joining the machine to the domain. Does anyone know how to fix this problem as it has been affecting a remote worker so It has become quite a problem:O

If they lose contact with the PDC then they may drop the domain. It might also be worth looking at the PDC error logs to see fi they are being 'dropped' from the domain for some reason.

That's a strange one. Computer accounts renegotiate passwords periodically, maybe that process is failing. Though I didn't think it was as often as weekly.

Do the computer accounts in AD get disabled when it happens?

Definitely check the logs on the PDC/PDC Emulator.

What version of Windows server are you running?

You say non-XP clients don't do this?

Does everything else work okay on the PCs once they're re-joined?

Have they ever worked properly (i.e. has something changed to cause this?)

It may be a daft thought but if it's only XP machines, has something weird been set on XP firewall?

:)

Were not on Active directory, Were still on NT and yes It doesen't affect the Windows 2000 machines, Firewalls are turned off on the XP boxes too. Weird:confused:
