Howling sound obove 60 km/h

Featured Replies

Hello, i hear a whining, howling sound above 60 km/h. I should add that I have new tires, a rebuilt Haldex, and new wheel bearings. Has anyone had problems with the driveshaft bearing or front bevel gear?

?where all these parts / new parts and tyres done at the same time? Hard to guess then what might be the issue. Simple one to try is adjust tyre pressures to see if noise changes. Prop Shaft coupling condition was surely checked at the time work was done. Hope so anyway. ? Has the bevel gear had an oil change? Has the rear diff had an oil change>

Yes, these parts were replaced within 2 months. I also change the oilin bevel gear, rear diff too. It seems not very old and did not contain iron filings. Could worn inner front axle shaft joints make this much noise? I'd expect some vibrations and knocking, not a whining sound.

Check gearbox oil level? and maybe recheck rear diff level as well and if you can haldex level. Were all four wheel bearings replaced?

The gearbox oil was changed 30,000 km ago. I'll check the level this weekend, as well as the diff and haldex. All wheel bearings have been replaced.
