25 plate Karoq suspension - is the garage giving me the brush off?

Featured Replies

25 plate 1.5 petrol Skoda collected at the end of Sep on pcp finance. So only 5m old.

For at least a month now I’ve been suspecting an issue with the suspension. Not sure if front or back but the ride seems much more ‘bouncy’ than I remember it being when I first had the car. I am also hearing intermittent noises like a very quiet knocking/thump noise when I stop. I feel like the acceleration is a little sluggish also but that is a sidebar.

I’ve put it into the local Skoda garage to get checked over this morning and it’s come back with a full bill of health. Are they just telling me all is well to avoid repair under warranty?

I’m just really wary because my last Skoda required the front suspension changed at 3.5yrs and for months before that it was noted as ‘misting’ but to keep an eye on. I don’t want this issue to develop and then I end up paying for new suspension again.

Is the new car warranty 3yrs? If so do I just take their word for it and fight this battle later down the line if the ‘misting’ note pops up again at future services?

? Which Scottish Dealership group are you dealing with? How many miles has your car done. What spec of car, what wheel / tyre size? Have you adjusted the tyre pressures and what are they at? PS, re your previous experience. Misting can be reported for years with vehicles dampers and does not always mean they need replaced.

An approach I have used in a situation like this is to ask for a benchmark test drive in an identical spec new Karoq. Drive your car round the route first and note how it behaves. Then drive the benchmark vehicle, depending on the outcome you may be the position to argue that your cars suspension is not the same aa the benchmark vehicle and thus it needs to be rectified.

Have the transit blocks (fitted to eliminate too much movement when on a car transporter) been removed from the suspension before handover to you? Not unknown for them to be left in! I think the blocks are usually blue?
