My wife has bought me a lovely chrome gear knob for my Octavia. Unfortunately the origibal knob will not screw off. Any ideas how you go about removing the knob of an Octavia gear lever?

If I recall, it defo screws off, it will be VERY tight so as not to come off in use. Have another go using a bit more force.

on my car you have to lift up the gaiter then release a locking ring around the base of the knob and it just pulls off

That's for manual gear-stick right ?? How about auto-gear stick??
