Kodiaq sportline vs Octavia scout.

Featured Replies

I’m thinking of exchanging my 2017 Octavia Scout for a 2020 Kodiaq Sportline I’ve found. Any thoughts folks?

Hi,

Any thought on what? Size? Boot volume? Handling? Comfort? Performance? Mpg? 😉

Please tell us what engine and gearbox you have on your Octavia Scout and what kind of Kodiaq your looking for (engine, gearbox, trim level)...

It will be easier to answer you properly. 🙂

Hi Bap33, I have an Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI 184bhp 4x4 automatic 2017 reg 133000 miles clocked. I’m looking at a 2020 Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDI SportLine DSG 4WD Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr (7 Seat) 187bhp 63000+ clocked. Cheers Gary

Hi,

Well, based on this you shouldn't feel much difference on performances, especially if your Octy Mk3 has a DSG6 and the Kodiaq has a DSG7.

Indeed, if the Kodiaq is fitted with a DSG7, this may compensate for a difference in size and weight regarding mpg.

I had a Superb Estate Mk3 L&K, TDI190 DSG6 4x4 (~1600kg), with an average 7.1l/100km (over 135000km and 7.5 years). Now with my Kodiaq Mk1 L&K, TD200 DSG7 4x4 (~1840kg), it has an average 7.4l/100km (over 25000km and 1 year). 0.3l/100km more is not a big difference.

Leg room for rear passengers (on the 1st row) should be a bit bigger on Kodiaq. But boot space will probably b similar with a 7 seat version.

Additionally, getting in and out of the Kodiaq will be easier thanks to its height.

Just another question. What are your thoughts on the Kodiaq Scout? Cheers again Gary

Pretty sure @silver1011 has one, or had one, but recall it was the TSI. They might have some thoughts. What in particular are you interested in about that spec?

^^^ Yes a 1.4TSI Kodiaq Scout.

I have a touring caravan and use my Octavia scout to tow it. However, the scout has 130000 on the clock so I thought I’d need an upgrade. I’d figured the Kodiaq Sportline would be the way to go but didn’t realise Skoda produced a Kodiaq Scout. Octavia Scouts are great so I wondered if the Kodiaq scout can compare with the Octavia Scout.

I have the MY21 brochure that included the Scout before it was withdrawn, if you're interested.

In terms of ownership and driving, perhaps if you highlight the features of the Octavia Scout that you like and think enhance towing, and are hoping to find out if they're the same on a Kodiaq Scout, or people's opinions of them, then you might get more feedback.

As far as I remember, the Kodiaq Scout is mainly a question of trim and look. It doesn't have higher ground clearance compared to other Kodiaq trims, unlike Octavia Scout which is higher than other Octavia versions.

Kodiaq Scout has plastic wheel arches, instead of painted ones. It comes with specific specific seat covers, front and rear bumpers may avec some aluminium parts as if they were stone guards (which they aren't). And there should be wood trims on the dashboard and door panels, instead of piano black for instance.
