Where can I find a keyless entry sensor?

Featured Replies

I've gone and lost a key in my house (it's not down the back of the sofa, I checked twice). I don't have a HackRF, so my next thought was to extend the wiring to a sensor and walk my house while my wife activates the door handle.

Which sensor is the easiest to get to and where exactly do I need to be looking?

Thanks in advance!

Your idea is certainly bizzarre and interesting, compliments for the creativity!

I have also misplaced one key fob recently and cannot find it, and thinking how to do it ....

Tee problem I see is you need a large amount of things to do to get your idea implemented ...

  • door panel off so to access the wiring

  • an "aerial" or the received of the signal - maybe you could unbolt yours? see here

  • cable/wiring to extend as you go around, and need the connector as well

  • find a way to close the door again

  • make sure you got meters of wire to spool 😁

  • spend time walking around ....

I like your idea, but thinking all this above just in terms of time, you could spend an equivalent amount systematically searching the house - if you sure is there? 😄

You could ask the boys and girls that like to take your car for a drive without asking! They use a dual antenna to pick up the signal from your key to retransmit to the car. If you slightly detuned the antenna you'd get a less sensitive and therefore more accurate signal retrieval from the key.

YMMV

Looks like it can be done with an extension cable from one of the car's antennae, see the reply from Kajetanski. Good luck!

If you connect directly to the antenna you can risk damaging the transmitter in the car. You are changing the characteristics of the antenna.

Sketchy for sure, but it worked for a couple of people!
