Reversing camera display change after update.

Featured Replies

Whilst in France last week my car received an infotainment update, The car is a 2024 Octavia Vrs diesel hatchback, with a reversing camera retrofitted by East Yorkshire Retrofit.

After the update two odd things happened. Firstly the reversing camera did not work at all the first time I reversed the car after the update. Then it worked, but instead of the full screen showing the camera view, it is now two thirds camera view and one third a top-down outline of the car with curved lines showing the steering angle. I can still select normal or wide angle view, but the split screen remains. I want the full screen view back. Anyone know how to do that?

The other oddity is that three times the system made a phone call to Skoda for no known reason.

Is it the 1989 update? There were some problems experienced by a number of those who updated to that when it was originally released, if you search for the thread/s I'm pretty sure you'll find some interesting info in amongst them.

Yes, it is 1989. I have found out that if I touch the screen at the correct point between the camera view and the other view, and swipe right I get the full screen camera view back. I now need to make that the default.

I still don't know why the car did an ET, and phoned home.

IIRC most user's recommend performing a factory reset after the update, seemed to iron out any bugs.

As the car is 1994 and the updates are performed automatically I am not sure if I can even do a factory reset, or whether the updates are actually themselves a reset to current factory specification.

Factory reset is an option in your infotainment settings, anyone can apply one at any time. It can help sync your system after updates and such if it's playing up.

Btw what do you mean, the car is 1994?

My mistake and big typo. The car was first registered in March 2024 and apparently used by Skoda to train technicians to work on the electronics, and it had only 25 miles on it when I bought the car in September 2024. The fact that the electronics had been worked on was revealed when East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions installed my reversing camera and found that access screws under the dashboard had been removed and replaced.

Everything I want now seems to be working, so I am inclined to leave it alone.

P.S. A big recommendation for East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions, who did a great job in installing and setting up the reversing camera.
