Central Convenience Module Swap - Golf 1k0 959 433 BT Into Octavia (Replacing 1k0 959 433 CN)

Featured Replies

Hey all, I'm new here. I initially tried getting answers on Ross-Tech Forums by advice, but didn't get any answers at all, so I'll paste the body of the post (with corrections) here.

I was told several times that the "CN" CCM does not support key fobs as it is the BASE tier CCM, and was advised to go for a MAX tier CCM, so I got one from a Golf (different country if it matters. Donor Golf was left hand drive, the Octavia is right hand drive), I tried installing it and realized a few quirks:
1. Original CCM had 3 plugs plugged in, out of a total of 4.
2. There were x2 18 pin plugs, x1 6 pin, x1 8 pin ports in the original CN module. Whilst Golf's MAX tier BT module has x1 8 pin, x1 18 pin, and (I THINK, if I remember) x2 6 pin ports (correct me if I'm forgetting something - this was over a week ago so it's not fresh on my mind). So only 2 plugs fit, the 2 center ones, the light brown/yellow/orange/cream-coloured one (18 pin) and a basic black connector (8 pin).
So I tested it out, plugged in the 2 plugs that fit and left the third. Checked with VCDS for trouble codes, of course, as expected, I got some voltage-related ones. Cleared the codes, did the necessary long coding, boom, nothing left - all good. I was told the the port that is on the outside (I think 6 pins?) was the one that required the antenna, so as I was advised, I got a crappy wire (bit of a DIY job as I did not have the real thing) and put it on pin 1 - it picked up the key fob, so already big relief! Fast forward, key was adapted, working, but - rear doors did not listen and the boot unlocked and opened when pressing the lock button. I tested the pins with a voltmeter and found that the 8 pin port in the center (1 of the 2 plugs that fit basically) had the 2 big pins (if I remember correctly, pin 4 and pin 8) showed voltage when pressing lock or unlock on key fob, I think the wire was initially located in pin 4 but I swapped to pin 8 (from what I remember. Could have been the other way around. Either way, point being, I had to swap the position of the wire) because the wire was on the pin that showed voltage when pressing lock - result? The boot unlocked and opened when pressing unlock now - so I'm certain that that is the dedicated pin for the boot - if unplugging that 8 pin plug, the boot won't listen to lock/unlock commands. There was another 1 (thin) wire in that plug, and I think it was like pin 6 or something thereabouts (it was the 2nd pin down from the 3 on each column if that makes sense, that I remember) so I don't know what that one is exactly since it's only 2 wires for boot - I expected more.

Right now, the issues are:
1. Range is short and sometimes key fob buttons are not recognized.
2. Back doors don't lock/unlock. I later heard that apparently this CCM does not support direct wiring to door locks in the back.
3. Boot unlocks AND opens, I want it to only unlock.
4. Boot unlocks and locks very quickly after, like 3 seconds or so.

So my questions are:
1. Easy fix, will just need proper wire. I noticed in initial steps that boot button didn't work but when I used heat shrink on the connection between 2 wires (to elongate the wire) it started picking up the signal way better, and boot button started to work.
2. What is the easiest solution here? Octavia does not have electric windows if that matters.
3. Is there a coding thing I misinterpreted perhaps?

I would appreciate your help guys, whether it is wiring diagrams for either module, or real world experience and perspective.

P.S. It is a pre-facelift Mk2 Octavia (1Z3).
