350Z Vs. Renault Clio V6

Featured Replies

Trundling along yesterday afternoon I saw a Clio V6 coming up behind me, we got to a dual carriageway and he pulled out to overtake..... despite me nailing it as soon as I saw him pull out, he pulled up on me reasonably well and started to edge ahead but not quite far enough for me to say he'd got past, one we were going at a fair speed I began to slowly haul it back in before we had to slow down for a roundabout.

Luckily for me the Clio was just ahead enough for me to be able to hear his exhaust - what a very nice noise they make !

An interesting comparrison I thought, and it made a change from kids in Saxos trying to race me

I lost today from an X5 :(

I take great relieve from the fact that his fuel bill will be higher though ;)

What are you? A Fabia VRS driver ? ;)

Yeah but you petrol buys can't lay down that smoke screen :P

(ps admittedly you will probably up front, but let's not go there  )

That V6 version should handle very well round corners though, but isn't the 'one below the V6' model virtually as fast due to having less weight?

The 1st V6 had some interesting handling issues, but the 2nd one is meant to be a much better drive. I also believe that the V6's have problems with not making the claimed power figures, and a chap who has one rejected it. Btw, no trouble pulling away from a Mk1 V6 in the Scooby - have you considered a Fabia, Phil? ;)

I'm currently hoping someone with a Fabia 2.0 will offer to swap it for my car.

Back when I was on the standard turbo I had the edge on mk2 V6, I put it down to fact they are so heavy. How heavy is your 'Z Phil? I'd have expected you to have been noticably quicker. Prehaps your engine is still very tight and not giving full power yet?

Would be interesting to see how the 350Z would compare to the 350SR (if only they'd put it in production)...

Its quite a heavy car actually. As I've said before, its not an especially fast car, more of a GT car that you can cruise comfortably in. At 1500 miles the engine is still likely to be quite tight I would imagine.

0-60 takes a leisurly 6.2 seconds so thats not too far off your remapped 4x4.

My car weighs in at 1648kg. No idea how that compares with anything at all.

That's even heavier than a diesel Mondeo :rofl:

Clio V6 is around 1600kg IIRC. TBH I expected a 0-60 time faster than 6.2 from a near 300bhp rwd car, it is heavier than expected though considering it's a 2 seater. Actually thinking back I did once have a short play with a 350Z coupe and thing were pretty even until well into 3 figures where it definetely had the advantage so from my experience it's quicker than a Clio V6 Mk2.

I understand your point about it not being an especially fast car. Having driven a Boxster S it's much nicer just cruising around with the top down enjoying the 'experience' rather than driving it like a sports car. I expect the sound of the V6 in the 'Z improves on the top down cruising experience even more.

Perhaps thats why the Brembos are so huge then ;)

300kg more than a vRS Fabia.

Although they don't half look chunky. I sat in one like yours, Phil, when my Mum was having her Micra serviced. I told her this would be her next car after the Micra had served it's time.

She wouldn't let me test drive it though. :(

Mr. Newell, its been a while since you posted on here - have you been unavoidably away from your computer, filling up your Renault service dept. loyalty card?

Oh, sorry I forgot - you're more familiar with the Clio 1.2 are you not ?

I have been posting, maybe not as much as others on here.

I don't have a renault? and when I did I went to the dealer once in 4 yrs. it was a 1.2 16v actually lol

I was only having a laugh anyway, I think your car is a couple hundred kg heavier than a v6 clio due to it been a soft top, so it must have alot of extra grunt to keep up with one? both lovely cars.

I saw the Clio 197 the other day on the road and it looks great, another nice hot hatch from renault. wonder if a mk3 clio v6 is on the way?

Why would you what a 2.0 fabia over your car?

You have MUCH more power :confused:

Is it because they ARE the ultimate Supercar?

Chris - is that the old model or the 2006 350Z (use the GT4 special if you cant find stats for the 06).

How about adding torque figures to it.

They seem pretty even to me, on paper - much as they were on the road.

here you go. more torque from nissan! can't be bothered to add it in.

I think the nissan has bout 370Nm and Clio v6 has 300Nm but it is displaced by the 200+ kg for the Nissan in weight

Wheres the torque?

Looks even more true on paper now  Do you still think he wasnt trying?

Is that 350Z the roadster though? Nissan claim a 0-60 in 6.2 seconds from the roadster and a 5.8/5.9 s for the coupe....
