hi everyone,i have MK3 SKODA OCTAVIA 2014 1.6 DIESEL ,recently i changed battery and after came message on screen ,wipers not working,steering wheel not working,so i looked at fuses inside car under glove box,and one fuse i didnt put in rightplace,now came message i need to go to workshop....?i can upload picture

You may have put fuses back in correct place and the steering should come back after a drive. Quite normal after battery change you get a few warning symbols Turn full left and full right and take it for a short drive and steering light should go off. When you checked the wipers was the bonnet open. Skoda in there wisdom disable wipers if bonnet is open for some reason. Caught me out before.

thanks for reply,i was checking all fuses,...and fuse i didnt put in right place,so car wont start,(made mistake i didnt make picture of fuse box),so even more problems,probably best solution to call auto electrician or AA?

If you put a fuse in the wrong place there should be an empty socket with two terminals/contacts inside the socket for the fuse to connect to. Blank/unused fuse spaces tend to only have one or none at all. I had a look at the picture close up and cant see any with double contacts empty so maybe a fuse is in the right place and has blown. Did you pull fuses with battery connected as it can cause certain ones to blow.

Also check the fuses in engine compartment near battery.

Meant to add its sometimes tricky to see if a fuse is blown especially the micro ones with it in place. Easier if its removed.

It's not ideal, but this is absolutely something you can sort yourself. You know what equipment you have and roughly what you touched, so you should be able to work out what doesn't belong where.

@Alasdair1 is correct, however a lot of empty slots do still have contacts in them, and some are even hot - I know this, as that's how I powered my dashcam.
