Google maps error / Android Auto, My Skoda

Featured Replies

For the past few months or so I've been having issues with Google maps connecting to Android Auto on my Skoda Octavia, I get an error message coming up saying "Android Auto has encountered an unexpected error". I've never had issues before since I purchased the car back in 2023. I've tried a number of troubleshooting solutions which have temporarily fixed the issue but then when I restart the car it has the same issue. What I've tried is updating android auto via playstore. Clearing cache and clearing data in settings apps for android auto, forgetting my phone n Skoda mobile and restarting the phone and reconnecting. Pressing and holding down the power button to the infortainment system. There are probably other things I've tried but I can't think of at the moment.20261013_173334.jpg

Hello

Try to find out if it disconnects in the same place on the road. I have the same problem and after I tried every possible thing (updata maps, update infotament, android expert setting, cache, changed the phone, etc.. ) I noticed that the android auto disconnects and reconnects in the same place on the road. In that zone there are 4 power transformers with a distance of aproximately 150-200 m between them and they interfere with the car connectivity. It happens only in that zone, every single time.

Hi @christy_berserk. For me it happens straight away as soon as i start the car at home or anywhere i am parked at work or shops and it's always been normal at these locations don't know if anything has changed at these locations and it's never happened as I'm driving. Maybe it has something to do with power transformers I'll have to look into it.

Fortunately I've managed to get get it to work properly again and it hasn't for now at least had any issues been ok for 2 days now. I'll see tomorrow if it has problems connecting. I'm hoping it won't happen again. Thanks again for your suggestion.

To me this sound more of a phone issue then the car, is google maps and the phone OS up to date, am guessing that you are using wireless are the moment, have you tested it using a usb cable, as that would rule out any wireless interference issue.

My guess would be if its suddleing stopped working, is the phone had done an app update that has a bug in it and causing something on the phone to crash, what modal phone are you using.

Hi you may right, I thought that too at one stage it may be the phone software and in the process of troubleshooting did make sure google maps and other such as android auto was up to date, in the meantime also the phone OS updated to one UI version 8.5, android version 16. I dig check and see that there is an android 17 and ui 9 software update but that isn't available in my region at the moment, don't know if that's causing any issues. I mostly connect with cable to keep the phone on charge and it connects to Android auto that way, but then and again at times I also use wireless too to connect, and it appears to do the same, it's just I've never encountered this issue before. I'm wondering though now that you mentioned OS and update Google maps if that is causing the issue. Maybe it is a bug. My phone is the galaxy A34.
