used fabia

Featured Replies

hi all,

i'm new to this forum and also just bought a used 2002 fabia elegance, just wanted to know a few rules after buying a secondhand car ie. what kind of checking need i do, any servicing required? etc.

would appreciate any tips whatsoever.. thanks

Hello and welcome

I bought a secondhand 02 Elegance from my main dealer two years ago and it's been very good so far.

Did you buy it from a main dealer or private ?. Look in the service record to see when it was last serviced? what's the mileage on the car?. You should be able to determine from that whether it needs servicing.

cool, thanks.

bought it from dealer. 117k km mileage, afraid no service record. it's actually a 1.4 auto and i'm the 3rd owner. car still in good condition but just wonder what else is there for inspection, plus i'm new to cars since this is also my first car.

Whereabouts in the world are you?

cool' date=' thanks.

If there is no service record then I would get a full service done and get the cam belt (and tensioners) changed as soon as possible.

Did the dealer say why there was no service history? Presumably they serviced the car before selling it to you? :D

the dealer (private dealer) did general inspection and standard servicing. but what i'm really looking at is whether there is any other special checking with regards to skoda (in particular this fabia) that i might not know of.

or is it best to just send it to skoda service centre for full check-up? before i do that though, i wanted to have some info upfront from all the experienced people here.

anyway, thanks for all the input and views.
