Just wodenring if any members ahd this and whether they though t it was useful -

Saw http://www.portwood.co.uk/carinsurancemainpage.htm

and was thinking that this pretty much gives peace of mind and is worth the money

Its basically insurance against breaking down - Do they pay up in the event of a claim ? Bet there is a huge excess

What do ya think????

Sounds to me just like a warranty.... After a few recommendations from another forum, I've taken out a policy with WarrantyDirect. Covers pretty much everything on the car (including wear and tear items!) and was very reasonably priced. Now I'm in the dilemma that I want the car to break so I can get my money's worth!

Desert sand? Won't that just make it faster?

I was hoping my driving style would be enough, but then I remembered these cars are rep mobiles

I looked at WarrantyDirect for my previous car and was tempted. However in the end I sold the car instead! They do cover wear-and-tear items but you are expected to contribute more and more as you cars mileage increases (up tp 50% of the cost I think?).

When my 1 year old furby reaches 3 I will almost certainly get some sort of extended warranty. I do quite a lot of miles each year so the

10% of the cost of parts after 60k (labour is covered). Think 100k is the next benchmark, but I doubt I'll have the car by then :D I got a quote online and then the chap who I spoke to started chucking in upgrades on all the options to sweeten the deal! :D Just waiting for the policy documents so I can make sure it hasn't been mis-sold!

Let me guess - they wont cover modified cars ?

They will but they won't cover modified parts ;) Depending on how it's worded, the car may be returned to standard :D

Idon't think that they cover any diagnosis time, so you will still have to pay for interrogating control units for faults and any disassambly of parts.

The level of cover I opted for they will if the person who looks at it decides that it's a "warranty" fault, so either wear and tear or manufacturing defect (which covers most of the likely problems!)...

Just read the small print and make sure they cover what you think they're covering! A lot of aftermarket warranties are pants! :(
