Can people tell me the official or there times for 0 - 60 on an Octavia vRS (1.8T, 20V) on a standard set up, no modifications.

The reason i ask is that my mate recently bought a 182 clio and we ended up at some traffic lights in solihull.

At the lights he gave the wink and from that decided to give them a quick run.

Off the mark his full 182 bhp hit the floor and he shot straight a head.

The turbo soon kicked in on my vRS and from then my vRS just went straight ahead.

This all happened very quick and just before i hit the brake i viewed my speedo as it read just under 70 mph.

When we spoke after he said his car could do 0 - 60 in around 6.5 secs, that was the official time from the 182 owners handbook.

Which got me thinking, i was a head of him at the end doing just under 70 mph, so my handbook isn't stating the correct time.

I do not race, this was a one off, 2 mates with new motors, we couldn't help it.

Also a BMW 330ci Sport Auto tried racing me the other day, did i do the correct thing and chicken out or would he have had me big time?

Officially the 0-60 time for the Vrs is 7.9secs but this is the manufacturers time so unofficially its a bit quicker. Btw 70mph is actually only 65 using GPS!

1) I've never found GPS or Snooper that accurate. I'd imagine you'll have been around 70mph (top of 2nd gear), speedos are pretty good.

2) a Pug Gti 180 tried it on with me, one bloke on his own, i had me and my brother in my octy vrs (both 13 - 14 stone, 6' 2"), i slowly started to pull away, his face was a red picture.

3) i then had my car remapped... Got a really bad start off some lights with a Bentley Continental GT on my left and a new BMW M3 (three slim passengers) on my right... Neadless to say the 6.0 W12 twin turbo GT pulled away with jaw dropping speed but the M3 didn't have as much luck. He was quicker but i got a bad start! I did get him later though, a quick 3rd to 2nd right into the power and left him. The remap was still bedding in at that point i found on my way home (king of the road).

4) i'm reconning my 0 - 60 is now around 6.0 if not quicker, i've not really tried, can't get the power down.

330 ci - 0-60 mph : 6.1 sec.(coupe, manual), 6.8 sec.(coupe, auto)

(Standard) would have been good fun.
