I'd agree at least thats what it does on the OctyII but i never use it because a second push on the lock button of the remote keyfob does the same thing.

so im safe to press it like im not going to get water all over me head then lol,

also ive been reading that if i hold the unlock button on the key fob the windows should all go down, is there a trick for this as i carnt do it

or better still is there somewere i can down load the drivers hand book ?

Yep, that just disables the interior sensors incase you leave a pet or something in the car.

Windows should roll down when you unlock the car, and up when you lock it by just continuing to hold the relavant button on the remote.

Lights can be left on for 30 seconds when you you've been driving at night by flashing the main beams after you switch the lights off, but before you remove the key.

Not sure about on an Octy, but on the superb a second press of the lock button actually disables the deadlocks (they are on automaticaly) and doesn't affect the alarm, i'd have thought it was the same on the octy.

Yes it disables the deadlocks too.

If you cant make the windows go up and down by holding the lock/unlock buttons down then you can probably do it using the key in the lock.

Are you sure mate?

This doesn't work on mine?

I know that by turning the key in the door lock this rolls down the windows but I have tried this on the remote and nothing happens, is this a model specific feature?

Well, mines a 53 plate Classic, so if it works on that, it should work on all of them!

I'm sitting in the study watching my windows go up and down as I type this.

Literaly, when you press the unlock button just keep holding it down and the windows should go down. It's in the manual too, page 51.

I've also just noticed in the manual, that you can set the windows to close automaticaly when locking the car!

Well I will try it again when I finish work but could this be a VAG-COM enabled feature do you reckon?

As I believe my 52 plate Comfort hasn't got it?!!?

well, according to my manual you lock the car with the key and turn it to the close windows position, turn back and remove key, then insert and turn to close windows position again and hold for at least 3 seconds, this should activate auto closure function.

This works on the door lock but not on the key fob, and I have looked in my manual and I can't see anything that describes what you are suggesting?

Page 51 & 52 in my manual. -

"Convenience operation of windows

you can open and close the electrically powered windows as follows when unlocking and locking the vehicle (just closing of the sliding roof).

Opening windows with the key

Turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the opening position or press the opening button of the remote control until all windows are open.

Closing windows with the key

Turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the closing position or press the closing button of the remote control until all windows are closed.

Operational problems

Automatic closing or opening does not operate

If the battery has been disconnected and then reconnected, the automatic closing and opening function does not operate. The system must be activated. Proceed as follows in order to re-establish the function:

Turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the closing position and hold it there until all of the windows are closed.

Release the key.

Insert the key again and turn it to the closing position for about 3 seconds."

Perhaps i'm reading it wrong and there is no 'Automatic' closing of windows, and they are just reffering to getting the windows to work on the remote again? although mine have never stopped working even after disconnecting the battery?

My manual is different to yours for sure but I will try that sequence and see what happens.

have to say my remote works as described keep button depressed opens/closes windows
