2.0 no delay like the 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

I was sat in the car park today just got back from town with my friends and i taped the throttle a few times just playing revving the engine it was instant! if i did that in my 1.4 16v there would be a short delay before the revs would shoot up. its pretty lively:) just curiouse why the 1.4 didnt do it:confused:

That's the difference between a shopping car and a Supercar :D

It's al to do with emmisions, to make you stop making continuous small adjustments to the throttle I beleive.

I noticed this on the 1.4's and on my Y reg SDI. The vRS throttle seems to respond instantly. Yet another Skoda Secret.

odd:confused:

Is the 2.0 8V Euro IV compliant? I know its probably the oldest engine in the range , so I'd reckon its the dirtiest too , that delay you get on other petrol cars is all down to , as Skodayouth says , the fly by wire throttle and modern low emmission regulations being contained in the fuel map in the ECU.

All Fabia's are fly by wire, but I should think the 1.48v will be the oldest, not sure how far the 1.3 litre rear engined Skoda's go, but it has the deadest throttle out of all of the range IMO. Not sure about the 2.0's Euro IV, but it is in tax band E  at 185g/km, and the 1.4 Auto is not far behind. Were not all raving mad about diesel power, so fingers crossed for some decent petrol engines for the next fabia

im perfectly happy with the punch of the 2.0 i got. its lively. just wondering why its more instant so the ecu regulates the foot movent and smooths the movement of the throttle out to become economical im guessing thats right lol
