What the large spring under the seat running along the outside edge is for? You can see it if you look under the seat, and the coil section is about 6 inches long and it does appear to be a reasonably strong spring. It was originally on the left hand side of the drivers seat, and is still found on the right hand side of the passenger seat, running from front to back.

It was very strange, as at the time i was sitting in the car trying to catch a quick few minutes before i had to go back to pretending to do some work, when there was a sound of shattering plastic, upon inspection i found the afore mentioned spring, a metal lug that had once held it, and a random shard of plastic from unknown source.

The next thing was to test all levers and nobs to see what no longer worked, and everything works fine! lumber support, tilting back, seat slider and hight adjustment. If anyone can help it would be apperciated.

I think it's to assist in sliding the seat forwards? Could be wrong though.
