Fourth Year Service - Timing Belt

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My Fabia TDI is due a fourth year service this August. Got my reminder from the dealer where I had it serviced in the past.

They also mentioned the Timing Belt needed replacing on all Skoda every 4 years regardless of mileage.

I had a feel this was not going to be cheap and had a look on the net and out some dealers were asking for

Worth finding out what they plan to change too to make sure it's the same as the Skoda schedule! :D

They said they'll replace Oil, Air & Pollen filters and then regular checks (brakes, wipers, etc). Obviously the price may rise if extra's are found but not any different too dealer.

The dealer price had gone up an £50 from Year 2 (20,000) service, as well.

What I meant was that they replace the water pump, tensioners and cam belt (if Skoda say it needs to be done). Hopefully Ross should be able to comment on what is recommended, but beware of independents doing it cheaper because they're not changing everything :D

All done now.

Belt change with Tensioner, etc plus service (Oil, Air / Pollen filter), plus found the my rear discs slightly fault (which I knew about) so those got done. Total bill was £313 which I thought was good value.

No Valet and clock need setting but I for the price I'm to bothered.

What did you actually need changing on the rear discs?

Sounds a decent all-in price though. Was the waterpump changed as well?

Waterpump wasn't changed. The rear discs and pads. The discs were corroded and also pitted (as highlighted on MOT 6 months ago).

I got my timing belt done on my Furby TDi today - £225 inc. MOT. :)

did you have a 4th year/ 40k service , if you did the car should've had a fuel filter at 40k
