Anyone help re results from vehicle search on DVLA?

Featured Replies

I am interested in two cars at two garages and being a nosey type of person I typed the regs into the DVLA website under Vehicle Enquiry. Both were registered at end of March 2005. However both are showing as unlicensed with dates of 1st liability on 28/10/2005 and 28/11/2005.

I know they are both ex company cars (Cars are Toyotas and they are actually Toyota cars i.e. driven by Toyota Employees) but why weren't they taxed for so long? Just wondered if there is some special exemption or something as under Vehicle Type Approval it says M1.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

CATEGORY M1 = Any passenger carrying vehicle that can seat 8 passengers excluding the driver, so nothing unusual there.

Thanks any idea why it doesn't say that when I put in my own vehicle reg?

My Espace showed up (when I came to buy it) as being unlicensed since September 2005 too. When I queried this with the seller, it turned out that he'd just put it on dealer plates when he wanted to use the vehicle... very tax dodgy, but legal (loophole?).
