Braking cuts power -Tdi 110

Featured Replies

I'm sure the answer to this is on here somewhere, but can't see for looking!

Year 2000 Tdi 110bhp that cuts the power when braking, mate who tech's at an Audi dealer says it's connected to the brake light switch and cannot be removed but it's a right royal pain in the butt.

I'm not after doing left foot braking, just being able to get back on the gas when coming off the brakes.

Guess it's a 'safety feature' so you can't brake and accelerate together, BUT I can't think of many more dangerous things than turning into a corner in an Octavia in the wet and not being able to get on the gas and drive it through the bend - the back comes round VERY quickly!

Any help much appreciated.

i think that's got somthingto do with the brake servo and the litte non-return valve between the manifold and the brake servo.

you can remove the valve but then you're brakes are non servo-assisted, it's quite common in rally cars.

As far as I know it can't be disabled, so you'll just need to adjust your driving style and scrub a bit more speed off before the corner :D

Was kinda hoping that a wire could be removed!

It's like an ignition cut out for about a second or so...

See to remember that the Skoda Press Fleet cars we have used in the past did the same thing, the new models don't do it.

It's a 'Feature' of drive by wire. Is the 110 DBW?

yeah it's a DBW feature certainly on petrol models..

Makes testing boost pressure a right pain, as you have to find just the right sort of hill to maintain constant engine load at sensible speeds.. It's much easier to do with the brake pedal! lol

normal operation on most if not all VAG PD diesels iirc , and yes it sometimes is a pain especially when you want to bed a set of pads in

I've not noticed this, but then I don't trail brake into corners, and if I'm slowing enough to need to change down I block shift as I'm finishing off braking.
