Boarding lights

Featured Replies

Hi, could anybody tell me if you have to set up the Boarding Lights on the mirrors and underside of doors to come on or should they come on automatically, also boot and glove compartment lights not working. I have read the manual and it does not state which fuse/fuses control these .

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure but I don't think these have to be set up. The handbook for my 2.8 superb elegance says that fuse 14 covers interior lighting - it's also the fuse for central locking. You might want to check that one to see if it is the cause of all your problems. Hope you get them fixed soon:)

Shouldn't have to be 'Set-up' mate, they should all be working from the factory, sounds like you have a fuse problem or maybe some damp effecting the wiring?

Hi mate you've probably got the same prob as me, but i've also lost my interior lights as well (except the two rear ones above the doors), i also checked the fuses, After finding nothing i took it to my local dealer who told me the most likley case it water ingretion in to the passenger foot well caused by a blooked drain in the pollen filter, the water gets into a junction box that under the carpet and shorts the circuits out, so lights fail depending on the amount of damage done, mine failed after a real bad down pour the other night but whilst i was driving a day or 2 later they tried to flicker back into life but when i opned the door it killed it for good, that more or less point to water too me, I've got it booked in on the 24th so i'll post you the results, fault diagnosis and finance losses. bryanp

Thanks for your information, I also have mine booked in for 25th. I'll let you know how i get on. From what I have read on this forum this pollen filter seems to be the root of this particular fault , would you know where its located so I could check it for blockages, Regards,

Hi, I have the same problem on my Skoda her in the North of Sweden. What did they do to solve/repair this problem? Is there something that I can do by my self??

When I picked up my Octy Elegance from the dealer, I had exactly the same symptoms - no boarding lights, etc. When I pointed it out, the car was whisked off into the workshop and returned a couple of minutes later with everything working as it should.

I, naturally, asked for an explanation and was told that certain features are disabled at the factory (prevents battery drain, general fiddling, etc.) and need re-setting during the pre-delivery inspection. They'd forgotten a particular code during my PDI, which did the trick.

Ray.

Well the strangest thing happened over the soggy weekend, the bloody lights have started working again, the lot! only difference was i was away and my car was on the flat all weekend where as at home it faces up a slop so think water might drain in to the cabin easier when on slope but when on flat it had time to dry out, only dillema is do i now let the Skoda guys have a look at just in case it is water ingression, bugger!

Got car back today with lights repaired amazingly no bill! turns out that water ingretion was the problem and it had corroded the connections under the passenger seat as thought, Skoda admitted it was caused by damage done to the pollen filter house whan the car was made. Skoda UK offered to pay 75% of the bill and because Farmers Skoda (my local dealer) were happy with that they wrote of the last 25%, talk about as happy as a dog with two cocks!!!!! especially as the final bill was over

car left into garage today, but it was after lunch before they got round to checking it, they tell me its a wiring fault and they would need to start locating

fault early in the day as it could take quite some time, presumably taking off trims, carpets, etz, etz,. So it will be another week & half before next check in ( very busy garage)

As a matter of interest how long did your repairs take.

I book my car in and had 2 week wait before they could look at it, I dropped it of at 3pm on wed afternoon and they rang me at 12:30pm thurs afternoon to say it was done and it took about another hour for them to get the agreement of Skoda UK to pay their 75%. Although when I booked it in and when I dropped it of I did keep pressing the fact of water ingretion through the pollen filter which admittedly ****ed them of a bit but I think it helped in the long run!!! Good luck mate, lets hope they have the notion to chase Skoda to help with the costs

Oh yes and they also fix my bloody annoying ashtray that kept popping up, did even know they'd done it till i got in the car to drive it home, what more can you say about Skoda except brilliant

Shouldn't this be a issue for a recall if skoda are admitting a fault , because its looking like an assembly fault from the design.

I agree totally , this problem is putting an awful lot of expense and hassle on a lot

of people, if Skoda UK has admitted it is an assembly/design fault, then surely for their own reputation they should cover the costs of repairs.

Hi all, got my boarding lights problem sorted out, turned out to be the same problem as others had in this and other threads, i.e. corroded connections under passenger seat, but there was no dampness in carpets on floor well, this may have been corrected previously.

Luckily my dealers warranty covers the cost of repairs, a whopping 650 euro.

Now you know why I was looking for a Workshop Manual for when my warranty runs out next month.

Thanks to all for your informed opinions on this problem.
