As others have said 400ftlb for any length of time is gonna kill the engine. The JBS octy killed it's standard engine with around 370ftlb after a few months. They did this in the name of research to find out what the engine was capable of taking.

Kenny - I had 280ftlb on the standard turbo.

Yeah but that is like a few years of normal person driving. ;)

wow great figure, im at a loss what to do, have plenty time to think tho as money is tight anyway just now :)

what were you using to measure 280lbft eddy? vag-com or a RR?? interested in knowing how you managed that figure as its pretty high.

JBS RR same day as other cars run and achieved expected figures, GaryM also achieved similar figures on Golf 1.8T with a pretty much identical setup. Final measured figures on my car running standard turbo were 240bhp, 280ftlb. Further changes were made to the map after this but it was never RR'd.

did you ever use vag-com or similar to measure results?

No sorry. Gary might have and I know his car has also ran on the Awesome RR. I'll point him to this thread.

Seriously considering the AM04 Hybrid turbo as a direct replacement for my K03s, since I found the K04 I had bought ( and now returning for refund) had numerous cracks around the wastegate area. Would like to go with the JBS04 but it seems a bit too pricey compared to the AM04 and Eliminator options. i have e-mailed ATP to see what they say about shipping direct as they seem to have uk distributors ( and re shipping options regading import duteies etc) ;0)

how much are you looking at for an eliminator or jbs04 upgrade daver?

Sorry Bengie, completely lost track of this thread! I had quotes from Star and from JBS for Turbo, Manifold and Fitting, both come out at about 2.5K although the quote from Star includes an Apexi boost controller but the JBS quote included their new equal Length Manifold. This excludes the s3 Injectors, 3" MAF and Airbox, FMIC, Exhaust and DP/Cat which I already have, it also excludes a 4 Bar Fuel Pump needed for the JBS04 ( strangely enough this does not seem to be a requirement for the GT2X).

I have just about all of the bits to go with a K04-023 conversion but am still very tempted by the JBS04, their kit is always absolutely spot on, if a little pricey sometimes, but will do exactly what it says on the tin.....
