i'm quite liking the look of them eliminator kits, seem good for money/performance :)

the lack of OE cooling on the smaller puts me off but will wait and see.

also that degree of modifying will make it harder to sell so i may just stick to a remap

simple answer to that one kenny my man, get the bigger one :)

With my clutch slipping I got 297bhp to the flywheel and 280 ftps of torque running 21psi. My clutch has completely gone now. I have put the boost back to 1bar now, just to be on the safe side. When I get my clutch fixed I will get her done again. I used a guy called Joe Power for the install and custom mapping, he is by far the best tuner and mapper I have ever dealth with.

where is he based?

Joe Power? God thats a cool sounding name for an engine tuner :D

Ive been in contact with ATP and Im pretty sure I'll be doing some bsuiness with them in the coming months.

Im hoping Jabba will be able to do my hardware install and remap.

What Injectors are you running?

Joe Power is based in Straffen, Co Kildare, Ireland.

I am unsure of the size of the injectors but know they are larger...I will ask him when I collect the car.

That's gonna bump the price up then. Just trying to get the full picture for those considering taking this route.

Oh, I was under the impression that the GT2x turbo kit didnt require larger injectors but the larger two turbos did (S3,Cupra R etc ones)!

Even with injectors though its still coming out sub 2.5k inc fitting and mapping. Considering I have the cash in the bank for an IHI conversion (4.5k) I think this eliminator kit is amazingly good value for money.

Thanks for the input so far,

Lee

Just be careful on how it's making it's power. The fact it toasted the clutch suggests to me that peak power is quite low in the revs and thus achieved through high torque. If that's the case it may also be unfriendly to standard engine internals.

Fair point Eddy - high torque down low is exactly what Im really after though. :o

Would you agree, if mapped properly, that the standard engine internals are good for 300-320lb/ft torque if serviced over-regularly?

Cheers,

Lee

That's about the max torque I'd be happy with but it would depend on how it's delivered. These GT2X kits look like excellent value but I'd like to see a full breakdown of costs and parts if from someone who has had one fitted before commiting if it was me.

Couldnt agree more - that would be the final thing to swing things for me I think.

I should know what Im doing for sure in the next few weeks as Im still in contact with ATP regarding the kit contents and what else is nedded to do a proper job. :)

On an otherwise standard car I would expect the following would be required to get decent figures out of one of these:

Turbo Kit (complete with oil lines, gaskets etc..)

TIP

DP & Cat

Cat back system

FMIC

Injectors

FPR

Fuel Pump

Larger MAF housing

CAI/Airbox to match MAF housing

Manifold

Remap

out of interest, sorry maybe a daft question but say the kit and car can be tuned to 300bhp.

is it possible in the remap to be de-tuned to say 270bhp? or any other figure the customer wanted?

Yes less power is just a map tweak, if this is for reasons of engine life etc.. though then it's the torque you need to keep in check not power.

Blimey lad's, most interesting thread I've read for ages, keep it going on the "info" front.

yeah thanks eddy, i missed out the torque bit, oops.

great info and very helpful, much appreciated:thumbup:

I spoke with the lads in chipedire and they told me the stock engine is capable of taking 340bhp and 400 ft torque. I should have the car on the rolling rd by next weekend

i wouldn't want to put 400lbft through a standard 1.8T with 4x4 as it wouldn't last long.

400lb/ft?!?

Ive know most of the knowledgeable people Ive spoken too have suggested around 300lb/ft and no more than 330lb/ft on standard engine internals; this includes Michael at Jabba - someone who I personally regard very highly in this area.

Id say the power figure was nearer, maybe just a little on the optimistic side.

Lee

some have run that much torque or more even on standard internal but not forever and only on FWD.
