Hi all,

I finally did it - put down a deposit yesterday on my first ever brand new car after 21 years of driving. Going to be a red fabia vrs with cruise on a 56 plate. They seem to hold their value so well, it hardly seemed worth buying a used one....

On the test drive I was really suprised how solid it was and how well it pulled. Most of my time is spent on motorways so 6 gears and cruise are a real blessing. Up to now, I've never had a car that has even reached 40mpg.....

This forum looks great, lots of useful stuff - on most car forums they are often just filled with complaints about the cars - rarely anything positive to say. I'm already thinking about a green air filter, Seat air intake, strut brace. I can see this potentially becoming addictive...;)

I'm getting a lot of stick at work about buying a Skoda - I think they've all still got their heads in the sand. Hoping I have the last laugh - the only things I'm concerned about are the light seat colour, the 2006 stuttering issue, and accidentally putting petrol in it  ).

Roll on September....

Hi, and welcome
