power loss

Featured Replies

Hi gang

Just a query.

I own a S reg 1.9 TDI Octavia

Over last couple of weeks noticed a loss of power, especially up not so steep hills.

Recently driving back from Wales to Chester noticed loss of pulling power going up hill and couldn't get passed 40mph, had to drop down gears til was screaming and struggling in 3rd gear. Seems fine on level ground! Needs a bit of a service and suspect oil level is too high. Also had to replace vacuum pipe which powered the brakes(it had split in several places) now brakes are working fine. Almost died when, travellng at 60mph on a dual caariage way the soldering in ignition relay shorts and all power goes from car, coasting along with no power steering and no breaks. AA man did a quick fix and is ok now

Is this the end for my Turbo Diesel? Have suspected for a while that I have been driving around ina standard diesel car not a turbo

Cheers
