Fabia Estate Suspension Mods - what are my options?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I would like to modify the suspension on my 2006 16v 1.4 petrol estate. I do not live anywhere near mod shops and delivery of parts is frighteningly expensive because I live in a developing country.

I do have access to a SEAT and VW dealer as well as the Skoda dealer where I bought the car. The Skoda dealer just looks at me strange when I ask him about mods.

I was thinking about ARB and a strut brace to start. On other VAG cars are there donor parts that would fit (Ibisa, Polo), make a big difference and/or be worthwhile upgrading? What models of those cars have the parts I might be looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Seat do a front upper strut brace So thats a good start.

ARB. Fabia vRS and Ibiza Cupra's are fitted with 20mm front. Think the normal is around 18mm. No VAG fabia platform have a rear arb so thats out.

Shocks wise the polo, fabia and ibiza should all fit each other. You could try the uprated shocks of a vRS, polo gti or maybe an Ibiza FR/Cupra. Dont know if they will work just as well on an estate though.

As for springs. Hmm dont know about that one as the rear weight of the estate will probably make the rear lower than the front.

hope it helps.

eibacks or how ever you spell it do a range of 30mm lower suspension springs for the estate.... if im correct.... have a search im sure youl find some loweing springs:)

Eibach springs and dampers will make a massive difference to body control, withouth compromising the ride quality. They'll also improve braking/acceleration by reducing dive/pitching. :D If you can't source them, you might be able to use springs from the other cars but I don't think there's a direct match for the estate....

I wouldn't personally bother with the upper strut brace, but the rear ARB makes a big difference and you could look at sourcing a vRS front ARB which is quite a bit cheaper than the Eibach one :D

Thanks for the responces.

I like the Eibach idea. However, that probably will cost me an arm and a leg for shipping. Probably the best idea given my situation is looking into the VAG parts bin as mentioned.

The VRS ARB sounds like a good idea too. How much might that cost new from Skoda?

Here in Colombia they don't have the VRS or any diesel variants of the Fabia or Octavia - the diesel here is still too dirty. Hopefully that will fix itself in the next few years because I would like my next Fabia to be a diesel.
