Quadlock Ipod connector

Featured Replies

I've just been looking at the Skoda accessories site to see what extra stuff I can stick on my car, chrome zorst trims and the chrome pedals are looking likely but....

I also saw an Ice link Ipod connector, part no. ZGB000051852.

Is this a straight connection to the back of the Stream unit via quadlock?

Does it render the CD autochanger useless?

Is it specific to Ipod's? or can any generic MP3 player plug into it?

And finally,

Is it any good?

I apologise if all this has been asked before (most likely) but it's always a popular subject on here so it can't hurt if it's all churned up again :).

Ta

Hi,

it plugs into the cd autochanger out, well mine does, but it does come with a couple of extra leads

it's great, no more messing with cd's, but it is specific for ipods, the fit on the end is a sealed unit.

Hope this helps

Some info here -

It doesn't have the cradle like the Ice Link plus, it's designed to have the Ipod in your glovebox.

It will take away the use of the CD changer. It is Ipod specific.

Balls, I Don't have an Ipod (am I the only ruddy one?).

I have a 20 gig Iriver and I don't have a massive urge to buy an Ipod either.

I was about 2 weeks out from the '07 Jumbo box connector

Thanks for the replies chaps

A thought: could the end of the lead be "butchered" to allow a generic MP3 connector to be stuck on???

Just looked at the closeup pics, that'll be a no to any butchering then.

I've not tried it but I think the connections for an input could be used on the back of the Stereo to do just that. Search for a recent post where I've been discussing it.

I saw some of your posts on that subject a little while ago. All you need to know is the pins that the HU looks at for the signal from said MP3 player.

Or I could just fit my JVC DVD head unit but I think it'll wreck the look of the center console.

But on the other hand It would be nice to be able to watch films again :D

But I then lose the reversing sensor graphic on the HU display, but I was going to experiment with a rear view camera on the old Octy but never got round to it, the JVC has a camera input ready to go.

Decisions decisions...........

I wasn't meaning for a device that would control the iRiver but simply an Aux in. There are two inputs on the back of the unit.

Yeah I never expected to be able to control the player, thats too much to ask.

All I want is the connectors in the back, I might have the HU out at some point this week and see whats what.

There have been comments about an input that is designed for a hands free device hence the sound will be poor and probably mono.

More research is required methinks.

This is the first time I have delved into this subject so I am probably miles behind with whats been found.

I'm off to search the forums.

The hands free connection is different as I have gone to grain pains to try and explain in the other thread.

If you want more info ask, I have the diagram and connection details.

As long as your stream HU is the new model that plays mp3's then chances are it has the aux-in connection on the back as stu says. If it is the old stream HU then you can get an adapter that plugs into the autochanger input that will provide you with audio inputs. If you need one PM me.
