FAO fabia vrs mod scavengers!

Featured Replies

Well... after much deliberation I've finally decided that the vrs will be heading onto pastures new at some point early next year. Rather than sell in it's current state, I'm going to return to standard spec which means that there will be a range of the best fabia vrs mods up for sale!

This thread is just a bit of a feeler really as I'm not in a rush to sell the various bits and pieces, although I will want the car in standard spec by 31st December when my insurance runs out (I can then insure a standard car!).

The mods I will be looking to sell are as follows:

- Eibach pro-kit springs and dampers: fitted 21/2/05 at Jabbasport

- Full Milltek exhaust including sports cat: fitted 2/2/05 at AMD

- Forge FMIC: Purchased 28/9/05 and fitted by me (Bryan D has first refusal on this if he is still looking - Bryan, PM if still interested).

- Seatsport strut brace.

- Jabbasport rear anti-roll bar: fitted 21/12/05 at Jabbasport.

- Octavia VRS 312mm brakes.

- Green cotton air filter & cleaning kit.

- PD 160 air intake.

- Octavia VRS 17" alloys (x5).

I will be incredibly sorry to see these mods go as they have made such an enormous difference to the character of the car. Not only does it now look like it should have when it left the factory, it also goes like it should have done.

In terms of the suspension (springs and dampers), exhaust, alloys and PD160 intake, I will be looking for someone willing to do a swap with me as I don't have the originals. I'd like to get the springs, dampers and ARB swapped at the same time to save messing around - you could get the complete fabia vrs suspension solution! I've spoken to Jabbasport and AMD who will be willing to swap the relevant bits and pieces over for a reasonable fee. Obviously there are other places that this could be done so arrangements could be made to accomodate different locations.

As I have mentioned, this is a feeler thread at the moment as all of the above is still on my car. Let me know if you are interested...

Cheers,

Dave

You have PM (nearly as I haven't written it yet) :D

Dave,

You have PM.

Steve

You have a PM

I'm not sure I understand the point of selling all the bits (and going through the pain of swapping them) if you want to sell the car anyway - can't you sell it complete, or swap it with someone with a standard car who wants a sorted car?

He makes some of the money back he's shelled out on mods, and selling a standard car does tend to be easier. You have a larger potential selling audience, as you're not just targetting the enthusiast who may want the mods you happen to have chosen.

Just my thoughts...

Steve

In the past, I've tried trading in modded cars and the dealer will offer at most a px price for a standard car, but typically a lot less, so it can be more economical to strip the car and sell the bits on separately :D

Chris

For info the ARB isn't a swap item as there is no rear ARB on the Fabia at all. You just need to get under and undo a couple of bolts and the strap clamp fittings. :)

What he said!

Until recently I was going to sell the car as is but I've done a bit more thinking and this really is the most economical route for me to take. This way I should still be able to realise the market value of the car at the time of sale (which should also be easier due to a larger audience) and I'll also get back some of the money I've spent on the mods. Additonally, I'll have a standard car by xmas when my insurance is due. This means firstly that I'll be able to insure the car for less (saving money) and also should find it less expensive to insure my new car when I change mid-policy. Obviously I can't guarantee that but I am led to believe that moving from an unmodified car to unmodified car will be easier/cheaper than moving a modified car policy to an unmodified car - I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating so they say!

I will miss my car though - I imagine it will feel incredibly dull and, for the want of a better word, standard, when I have removed all the mods. At least I'll keep the ICE in the car until I sell it. But needs must and I will always be able to look forwards to the arrival of the new motor!
