Front Tyre Wear

Featured Replies

My car has just gone pust 19,400 miles and I have just has to have my front tyres replaced. Almost all of my millage is motorway millage.

I noticed the other day that I had no tread on the outside of both from tyres. but plent on the inside of the tyres and in the middle of the tyres.

Is it normal characteristics to wear the outside of the tyres a lot quicker that the inner and middle.

Could this be a tracking issue.

The car drives straight with the stearing wheel level, and I dont think it pulls to a side under breaking.

could be a tracking concern , you could have too much toe in ,in equal measures on both ides therefore you wouldn't get an obvious pull to one side ,also hard cornering will cause excessive wear on the tyre edges, 19k isn't too bad for a set of front tyres , what tyres were they ?

They are the Bridgestones Z something that the car came with. I didnt think that 19K was too bad was just mainly worried about the uneven wear. There seemed to be loads of tread remaining or the rest of the tyres. It may be due to heavy footed cornering, I suppose the remap isnt helping either.

I have replaced them with Goodyear EF1 GSD3s which I hope will last at least the same.

Have the tracking controlled! Wifes car is 30K and its still 4mm left!
