Now I have an Octy II rather than a Fabia, will I need anything different for it to work?

I have VAG-COM Version 3 with a cheap Ebay cable. Worked perfectly on the Fabia, but do I need to change anything for the Octy II?

Yes you'll need a CANBUS version.

There are ones available from China but these are counterfeit as the registration is now contained within the cable.
