Nokia N80 and Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone else having (or had) problems with bluetooth devices and the N80?

I had a Jabra BT250v and it kept disconnecting at random and would appear to connect and no sound would reach the headset.

I tohught it was the BT250v so I went and bought a Jabra SP500 bluetooth speaker phone and guess what? It's doing the same ruddy thing!!!

Does anyone know if it's a cack software version or the phone itself?

Probably the phone, there's a lot of incompatibilities with Bluetooth headsets. I think even Nokia list only one 'officially compatible' Nokia Bluetooth headset.

There's lots of Forums around the net with people complaining about their Bluetooth headset not working with the N80.

It's possible the next Firmware update will fix it (they're working on some problems with bluetooth GPS units too). But there's no date as of when it'll be released, and technically you'll then need to take it to an Official Nokia Service Centre to upgrade the firmware.

:thumbdwn:

Might not have to take it to a service centre for an upgrade... clicky

Not many models supported atm but they're slowly adding to the list.

I would wait awhile before using it though... my mate tried it and it screwed up his phone to the point that it just doesn't work.. it now has to go to a service centre for re-flashing.

As far as bluetooth goes I've not had any probs transferring data, or using the 3g modem on my N80. but I don't have a headset to use with it as I never got around to replacing my sony eric one.. that just decided to stop charging up.

I've tried to get in touch with Nokia and they are all but impossible to talk to.

My Jabra SP500 connects and disconnects roughly every 17 seconds with 2 beeps, can you imagine how annoying that is when I spend an average of 5-6 hours a day in the car.

The online support form doesn't work at present (with IE and Firefox)

They want 75p a minute for technical support for their dodgy product that isn't fit for purpose, jog on Nokia.
