Another strange theing to happen to me while driving

Featured Replies

I was in the outside lane on the towards the end of the M5 Plymouth bound yesterday late afternoon. I had missed most of the rush hour traffic, so I would have described it as medium light traffic.

I noticed a guy in a reflective jacket in the central refuge (is that the right word of the bit in the middle between the 2 carrage ways?) Anyway, as I was aproaching him he learnt out and with a normal point and shoot camera took a picture of the front of my car. Not sure what I was meant to do, but I slammed on the brakes. I thought he might be trying to commit suiside or something.

Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them? How the hell do you get in the middle of a 3 lane motorway?

Looking in my rear view mirror after, I saw an HGV articulated lorry on the hard shoulder opposite where he was - but that could have been coinsidental.

Some sort of speed trap? Down right bizarre!

Might have been one of the highway repair chaps taking a photo of defective or repaired road. All the utilities do this now so it might be that simple.

Then again you might have a stalker although I suspect if he always dressed like that he'd be easy to spot.

you should have pulled a face at the geezer or stuck your fingers up at him!

I did not get the chance to do anything other than brake a lot. I lost about 40mph in a very short space of time. I thought he was trying to kill himself, and I didn't fancy a man shaped dent in the front of my car.

that reminds me of a time when i was up at my local breakers yard getting a gearbox out of a golf... this car had obviuosly been in some dort of front end collision. and there was one of those big lolly pops that the school crossing lolly pop people use in the back of this car. but the pole of this lolly was actually bent into a shape which kind of closely resembled the shape of the front of the car..

i heard(unofficially of course) that if you can take out a lolly pop person without the stick falling over on a driving test you get extra points added for artistic impression.

Never had anything exciting like that happen to me lol, but I suspect it's something innocent like he was taking pics of the road. Worth checking the Was It You's over the next few days though, just on the off chance ;)

Don't you think someone trying to commit suicide would wear something a little less obvious if they're going to try and jump in front of your car? Health and Safety gets bloody everywhere doesn't it lol.

Maybe he wasn't going for the full suicide and was just going for an "accident at work" style injury claim, handily photographing the lady who was about to mow him down as evidence :D
