Hi, just joined as I've just bought a Fabia TDI PD 100 Elegance Estate! Heard about this site from Josh with the silver VRS on Design 90s. Like him, I have had polos in the past (I still have two actually!) But one is going and being replaced by this.

I've been spending the last few days finding out whats out there for this car in terms of mods. I've had eibach springs on the polo in the past and I think theyre the way to go again on this. Not sure what to use in the way of shocks though.

I've also got some interesting wheels lined up for it, although it may take my a while to find a set in 5x100.

Also been considering getting the car revo'd at some point but I was concerned as to wether the engine is up to the extra load long term. I've been comparing this engine to the 130 used in the VRS and everything in this engine appears to be different (and presumably therefore uprated) when compared to the 100. Anyway I hope you guys can help me out with all my newbie questions. :) Heres some pics taken by the garage I bought the car from

Mornin' :wavey:

As to longevity with a remap; StaurtJ's wife Wendy has a remapped Octy 110 which has covered 120k+ with a remap, my friend has a remapped PD130 that has done over 125k with the map on, Andy Ellis (IIRC) has a PD100 Fabia which is in the high 50k plus bracket with a remap and that is used as a driving school car.....

Hi, Didn't think I'd recieve a reply so fast! Nobody managed to make theirs go bang then? :D I know VW diesels are strong anyway but this revo claims to give 50 more bhp! I imagine I will be looking at getting a bigger/uprated clutch as well?

My friend is running over 200 on a standard clutch, Wendy was running 160+ on a standard clutch which lasted about 90k - depends how you drive really. Some people with Fabias have had to replace theirs, only replace it when it is FUBAR. My freind drives slowly though ;)

Devonutopia is the expert on 130tdi pd transplants.....but the general concensus is don't go there,.......it's a lot of work.

Most remaps will put a bit of extra strain on the mechanicals of the car, but they seem to cope very well, as said the clutch may go ear;ier btu it depends on driving style.

And welcome to Briskoda

I've done a few engine conversions in my time, but anthing like this is a different ball game altogether. I think for now, I'm best leaving it standard, maybe wait 12 months and go from there.

Thanks for your help :)

I was amazed by how much more equimpent you get when compated to the polo SE Estate. The only thing missing really is a sunroof. But I can live without one of them thanks to the air con. Do all fabias come with about 50 interior lights? I think its got more than my dad's volvo. Its funny how we notice the little things. Also the seat and steering wheel have much better adjustment so I can actually sit in a deecent driving position for a change! The only other car thats this good is my mk2 derby. Pic for those interested: http://pic17.picturetrail.com/VOL827/1543131/7956730/181607283.jpg :D

I've been reading up on suspension choice and I'm still convinced the eibach setup is the way to go for me. Im still debating wether its worth the extra expense for the full kit. Searching on ebay.de Its just over

I'm just wondering how much coilovers will compromise ride comfort? I know where I am with eibachs, If anything on the polo the ride is better than standard! The only reason to get coilovers I guess is to get the perfect stance, I've had a look at the wheels thread in the fabia section and it seems the eibachs do just enough lowering to make the arch gap the same all the way round (which is the kind of arch gap I'm after

I'm gonna spend a long time pondering what to do I think. :tipspecs:

Welcome to the site.

If you want to mod your car, PM Xavier, as he is the owner of Lummox owned FAB vRS, with 1 or 2 little mods, & ask his opinion :)

So any advice from Lummox appears to be well worth it weight in gold, specially related to the furby :)
