Holes in the intercooler

Featured Replies

Is it possible that the side mount intercooler in an Octy vRS can become punctured a stone thrown up from the road. If so would this cause a high pitched screeching noise (like air escaping from a narrow aperture) when the car is under high(ish) boost?

I ask since my Octy makes this high pitched screech described above (those at yesterdays Ashton Court meet will likely have heard it) and I am trying to track it down. As far as I am aware there are no reported leaks in the hoses (a reputable garage has checked this out for me) and it has been suggested that a small hole in the IC is a potential cause. Does this sound plausible to you guys or not?

To the best of my knowledge this has not thrown up any fault codes (I have not checked recently though)

Cheers,
