Questions about 40,000 mile service

Featured Replies

Hi to All

Having read the service book that came with the vRS, I find a few extra bits need doing at the 40,000 mile service. Air and fuel filters I expect, but I have had two different quotes from two dealers. One quoting a higher price carries out a brake disassembly clean and inspect, the other quotes

It isnt part of the service, it may be an extra that the dealer provides but will be optional and additional to the schedule.

Hi Lummox

Thanks for that. It is what I thought. Dont know if the car would benefit or not. 10 months is not really long enough for the calipers to need a rebuild IMO and I am a firm believer in the addage "If it aint broke, dont fix it." Will get them to price without.

The 40k we do is oil,oil change, pollen filter, air filter, fuel filter, wiper rubbers front and rear blade and new sump plug.Brakes are checked and advised if require work.

As per the book then. For my service I wont be needing wiper rubbers or air filter. When it goes off warranty I will most likely do servicing myself anyway.

Just seemed odd they include this in the quoted service. It makes them uncompetitive price wise.
