Tdi Starting Problems When Engine Warm

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've just bought a 99T octavia 1.9 tdi slx (110 going up soon), :shhh: :naughty:

Ok when it's cold it start's no problem, key in, turn, 2 seconds light goes out, turn, B-Brum it starts,

Now when it's warm even after only a minute or two if turned off it's more like, light goes out and, b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-br-br-Brum, it starts.

Once started it runs ok.

any help would be gratefully recieved. :help:

Thankyou. PLINK

Check your glows make sure they are warming up.

Check the cold start sensor.

Make sure the MAF is ok and the air filters are clean.

Give it some good fuel and a good run out and see if that helps.

Only suggestions, but well if it starts it's probably ok.

There is a relay which, if not working properly will give problems when starting from warm, but not from cold. Only costs approx

Hi Thanks for the replies,

I think I missed the most important bit of information on my last post,

I'm a :newbie: to SKODA.

Could someone please tell me where I would find and possibly what, a cold start sensor, looks like, etc.

What on earth is a MAF.?

air filters have been replaced, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia/windscreen-misting-up-badly/60926/#post689379

cmcm789, that's my problem to a T, thank you but could you or some one else please tell me where and looks of the relay cheers.

PLINK

I have never checked on mine, but the relays on my old golf where down below the steering column RHS in the same box as the fuses.

I am not sure which relay it is, but i think it is the same as the VW one, so would prob be the same number. Relay 109

When i have problems with the Octy, i search through the other similar VAG group forums. They tend to have more members, and you will find much more information on common VAG faults.

I would recommend:

www.uk-mkivs.net (MK4 Golfs), and

www.seatcupra.net

p.s. try a search on those two forums and you will find more about the relay/ warm start problem. http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/399878.aspx
