Anyone use the Skoda OEM iPod connector for Fabia

Featured Replies

Reet, i get my Fabia vRS on Friday. I have a 5th gen ipod and want to use it with the standard h/u, i don't want to use a cradle (my ipod is in a case so probably won't fit anyway). So if i were to get the skoda ipod interface exactly what sort of control will i have over my ipod??

Cheers.

The same as with a Denison Icelink.

I was hoping for a bit more detail.....

Can i put my ipod in the glove box and be able to choose, artist, album, tracks etc from the h/u?

Try this -

where you will find -

Turn your Volkswagen into your own, personal music library with an iPod connection. If you own iPod, we don't need to tell you how it has revolutionised the way you listen to music. Simply clip your iPod into the dock connector/charger hidden away in your glovebox and then enjoy all the basic functions of your iPod though your Volkswagen's audio/radio controls. Please note this is applicable for Volkswagen original audio equipment. The iPod adpater is compatible with iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod 4G U2 edition, iPod mini, iPod nano and iPod photo. The price quoted even includes the Retailer's fitting cost, so you can be sure that it will be one price with no extra costs. (At participating Retailers only)

Right,

This is taken straight from Skoda's memo to dealers:

The iPod attaches to an interface cable in the glove box and the user then takes control from the vehicle radio.

Compatible with iPod 4G, 4G U2 Edition, Mini, Nano, 3G and Photo.

Please note that the iPod Shuffle is not supported.

As the CD auto-changer control buttons on the radio head unit are utilised to control the iPod, the interface lead cannot be used to control an iPod and a CD auto-changer simultaneously. Any CD changer present, is disabled.

For head units supporting the CD-text function then the title and track information will be displayed on the radio screen. CD control button 1 allows access to scroll through available songs and buttons 2-6 allow fast access to saved playlists.

*Ends*

(And all typed with one hand)

Neil, you've had enough!

Unless anyone knows different, I don't think the Fabia head unit has CD-text on it, unfortunately:thumbdwn:

the ipod connection i had put in my car when i got it is just a head phone jack that just comes out by the gear stick, and i have to use a radio station to listen to the pod, hmm what did my dealer do.

At least I can use a portiable dvd player, tape player anything with a headphone jack though the car speakers :) spose thats something

Sounds like he hard wired some sort of Radio transmitter such as the iTrip or Belkin Tunecast.

My dealer said, they dont make a Ipod connecter for a fabia yet, that was all of about 2 months ago... my dealer is useless

It is a fairly new part and they may not have had the information on it.

Regarding the cradle, if you did want one, Brodit make an adjustable one that will take an iPod in its case )everything from the 1G through to the photo models). I use it for my 3g iPod in a silicone case and it's fine. The part number is 848636. Then you just need the clip to mount it on -- I think there are 2 for the Fabia, either on the centre console or on the centre airvent.

Done. Can't believe how easy it was!! Bought some Kenwood keys from halfrauds which were perfect, stereo came straight out. Whipped out the glovebox and drilled a hole in the back of it to run the cable through. There's loads of room in the dash for the cables and little black box.

Dead happy.

Hello Neily, how are you? I have a 2002 Octavia with a Symphony CD head unit. I am not familiarized with what radio your Fabia have but I have include here a picture of the Symphony CD Head Unit I have.

I really apreciated you let me know if this is the same radio you have and what part number is the Denson Ice-Link interfase you order.

Also, can you see the title and track information on the radio screen?.

Thx so much,

Isaac

Hi Isaac,

I ordered this one;

Skoda iPod Ice Link Plus Adapter - iPod Car Kit Direct: Dension ice>Link interface Adapters, iPod Car Kits

My fabia also has a Symphony although it doesn't look anything like yours.....

With regards to track numbers, the headunit will display them if you use playlist but i don't, i have it set up to use the ipod's interface and the headunit's buttons to change tracks.

Neil.

Hello guys, well I decide to order the Volkswagen Ipod Interface Kit - 1K0 051 444.

Since I live in Central America, I order it from USA since is more easy for me to import it to my country.

I think I will receive it like in a week so as soon I intall it I will report here with some pics.

Just curious, here in the pic you can see 2 thick brown wires............Are these 2 wires ground?

THX,

Isaac
