indicator "tick tock" no longer working

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have never touched anything on my fabia but have fiddled a lot with previous VW Golfs and Jettas. I now have the problem that the "tick tock" for the indicator is no longer working. The indicators work but I just don't hear the sound. In the past, I would have replaced a relais for the indicators and that would have been it. However, there is no obvious place for them as I can only find the fuses. 2 questions:

1) is this a simple relais problem and if so where are they?

2) are there still relais in the "traditional" sense in the fabia or is it all electronics and there is a sound device to make the "tick tock"?

Thanks for your help

Christoph

You may also find that your lights on buzzer has also stopped working. Common fault this one but sadly the cure is a new dash cluster as the buzzer/clicker is built into it.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply - my light is still working, so I know when the indicator is on. What's a dash cluster and is it expensive? I guess it's a garage job?

Thanks

Christoph

What I meant was if you leave your lights on, take the key out of the ignition and open the door you should get a beeping noise to warn you you have left the lights on.

The dash cluster is the unit housing the speedo/rev counter etc infront of you. Cost here is around £400 or so, plus has to be coded etc to you keys and car.

yes, you are right, just checked the beeper for the light no longer comes on. Eeeeek - very expensive! Is there anything else that's not working that I have not noticed yet or can I just live with it? If that is common, does it also mean it will happen again, do you know?

Thanks so much for your advice

Christoph
