Two VERY useful insurance web-sites

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

These may well have been mentioned before on this website, but here's a VERY useful pair of sites that I used to get my best MINI Cooper S quote:

http://www.insurancequotes.org.uk/

My advice is to you all is to:

1). go to this linked site,

2). click on "the database"

3). click on "insurers"

4). print the page of phone numbers and start ringing around.

All that is then needed is that one or two of you should request that a Fabia vRS, a Fabia vRS Jabba and a Fabia vRS 1click all be added to http://www.insurancequotes.org.uk, then you can all start adding your own quotes. OK? Hell, I might even do it myself...

Another useful resource that I've used in the past, is one that allows you to enter you personal details like name, address, insurance history, etc. JUST ONCE, then it goes away to a fair number of insurers to find the best quote for you. Here's the link:

http://www.confused.com

All the best and I hope you find this useful in someway.

Ive used confused a couple of times now, very good indeed at finding a good price, saves alot of ringing around.

A quick reminder to members that Briskoda's Links includes a Car Insurance section listing 22 insurers and companies providing quotes here.

Neither of those web sites will produce quotes for people living in Northern Ireland! In fact getting a web quote is almost impossible if you live over here. Elephant and Admiral are about the only 2 and they are really the same company.

V. nice, i've requested a Fabis vRS quote, so lets just see what happens...

If you use these sites you still need to do a bit of shopping around too. When I was looking for insurance for my Fabia, the worst quote found by confused.com was from a very well known company that claims to be cheap. It was over

Ditto that. Junk mail, spam and unsolicited phone calls as a result of using confused.com :grumpy:

Ah yes, I had several phone calls from insurance companies. I'd forgotten about those. I've since had to join the Telephone Preference Service, although I'm not accusing confused.com of being responsible for the sellers of double glazing and holidays.

And try getting a decent quote out of them if your car is chipped..

Ain't gonna happen :nono:

On the junk mail front, I was careful to ensure that I ticked all the right DMA (Direct Mail Association on 0845 703 4599) boxes. My advice is call them now and subscribe for free to ban all future direct marketing. OK?

Best of luck,

Yeah... I'd be calling people if I had chipped my car to get peoples names as there is so much risk involved with insurance and modifications.

The thieving rob-dogs... ;)

Or just go to http://www.mpsonline.org.uk where you can register on line. There are links at the top of the same site to the TPS and FPS.

Excellent links. Cheers guys.

Your "bery well known company" only bother to "quote me happy" if you are over a certain age and a full no claims bonus...

I'm sure you're right: they give outrageous quotes to clients they don't really want.
