Bump stop chop

Featured Replies

I've read a few threads in the search on this subject and it seems a little unclear if this really is necessary when fitting Eibach springs. What's your experience and did you need to chop the stops down ?

Advice would be really recommended as mine are being fitted next week. Cheers, Jon.

erm ...... ????

Wait longer than 10 mins for bumping a thread please, there is no need for it.

In answer to your question yes you should trim the bump stops ideally.

i've fitted the Eibach springs to my VRS and was going to cut down the bump stops ,but in the end couldn't be bothered , i must say that i have not experienced any problems or knocking noises coming from the bump stops in approx 2.5k miles including the recent Briskoda Nurburgring trip , so the choice is yours , iirc you cut down the front by 25-30mm but that is qute difficult due to the short length of the bump stop (55mm), sorry can't remember how much you do on the rear, HTH

it's better to chop them down otherwise if the suspension bottoms out you might split them, failing that you could buy some purpose made shortened ones

I've fitted eibachs without chopping bump stops because mechanic told me there was no need for it. When i'm going over potholes and speed bumps it's same as it was, but when driving over uneven roads it's uncomfortable, too much juddering. So i'll chop my bump stops when i get the time from reading some posts i think it will improve that. This situation is best described in http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/eibach-springs-how-improve-ride/32720/?highlight=bump+stop

I have trimmed my bump stops down as suggested on the other thread. I took 30mm off the fronts and 50mm off the back. In all honesty it is hard to tell the difference, the car still shudders badly over potholes but does seem slightly better over undulating roads. The next step for me will be some Koni sport shocks.

Looks to me that you solve a ride height problem and create another, ride quality. I'm keeping mine standard

Personally I agree

If you want to reduce body roll and improve cornering speed get a jabba rear anti roll bar.;)

Yes thanks. Nicci drove down in the ****ing rain. I drove back:) A little wet roundabout not far from jabba was a little ;) fun before traffic came.
